In the Chiavari Chair market there are all kinds of theories flying around about which raw materials are best when it comes to the longevity and durability of the chair frame. Wood is a natural material that covers all the bases for a safe and durable chair. But only if the wood is free from defects and of good quality.
High quality wood is reliable and strong, but still has some flexibility, so it can handle a lot of use. Vision Furniture uses only top quality Acacia wood that is free from worm holes, cracks, rot and knots. Our wooden Chiavari Chairs are the only Chiavari Chair frame on the market, regardless of material, that passes all 6 BIFMA furniture testing standards for safety and reliability. Passing BIFMA standards means our chairs have the potential to last for 10+ years with 8 hours of daily use, 5 days a week!
Wooden Chiavari Chairs are Strong & Durable… with the Right Wood
At first glance most Chiavari Chairs look very similar due to the standard size and shape of this style of chair. But what is underneath the paint makes all the difference. When we work with our wood supplier we pick through the wood available and choose to buy only the superior quality wood. This means that we pay more for our raw materials but we know that having strong, clean wood is one of the reasons we have the only Chiavari Chair to pass all 6 BIFMA furniture testing standards. Many of our competitors buy the leftover wood that is warped and full of imperfections to make their Wooden Chiavari Chair frames at a lower price. But quality and longevity suffer when inferior raw materials are used.

Invest in Responsibly Manufactured Wooden Chiavari Chairs
Our main goal is always to provide the best quality seating products at the best value. Our wooden chairs are thoughtfully designed and responsibly manufactured to be a high value product that will last. There are too many companies saturating the market with low quality, cheaply made products that are not built with anything but the bottom line in mind. At Vision we think a little differently. We want our customers to spend their money on quality products that will be beneficial for their business and help them save money on replacement costs in the future.
Know Your Manufacturing Materials
People assume that Aluminum or Steel is the best way to make chiavari chairs because “Metal” sounds strong and solid, so “Metal” must be reliable. But in reality, most of the Metal Chiavari Chairs that we have tested FAIL BIFMA because manufactures don’t put in the time and the money it takes to correctly weld the chairs together.
They instead use a very simple spot weld to hold the chair together and the welding materials are typically inferior. Cutting corners with welding is part of the reason why other companies can sell their chairs so cheaply. But the cheap spot welds are not reliable for long term use. We have tested some Aluminum Chiavari Chairs that broke only 3% into the BIFMA Chair Back Durability Test. This Aluminum chair would have been a bad purchase for anyone looking for a good quality investment.
Some people say that Resin Chiavari Chairs are best. But many Resin Chiavari Chairs are brittle and crack easily because they are manufactured using recycled resin. Recycled Resin sounds good but the basic structure of the resin is broken down during the recycling process making the final product brittle and prone to breakage. Also, Resin Chiavari Chair manufactures often use adjunct, filler materials like talc to produce their resin chairs. This further reduces the amount of flex that the frame has and without any flexibility chairs are bound to break.
The finish of Resin Chiavari Chairs also proves to be problematic. If a Resin chair is cracked or scratched it is nearly impossible to repair the issue. And recently, more and more Resin Chiavari Chair manufactures are cutting corners and painting their resin chairs instead of impregnating the chair color into the resin itself. Paint does not adhere to resin very well so the chair’s paint scratches and flakes easily. Leaving you with a chair that is very difficult to maintain.
When is comes to the Chiavari Chair Market, the truth of the matter is that thoughtful design, responsible manufacturing and high quality raw materials are the key to making a strong and durable chair. VF furniture uses only premium lumber and our BIFMA results speak for themselves. No other company can say that their Chiavari Chair passes all 6 BIFMA furniture testing standards.
